Todos los días veo este cuadro mientras tomo café en el bar de la esquina. El hombre que se apoya con el brazo es el dueño del estanco; su mujer está dentro trabajando, claro. El otro, colega y amigo, simplemente ve pasar la vida de la calle. Cuando llega un cliente, éste pasa y le atiende la mujer. Si llega más de un cliente, entonces el dueño entra y ayuda. El otro hombre sólo se mueve para cambiar el apoyo del pie. Así es la vida en Palermo.

Every day I see this scene while having my daily coffee at the bar. The man that stands at the door frame is the owner of the tobacco shop, his wife is working inside. The other man is a friend and simply watches life in the street. When a customer arrives, the wife serves him. If more than a customer arrives, then the owner goes inside and helps. The other man only moves to change the leg support. So this is life in Palermo.
