Ayer fui al mercado de Capo con una amiga palermitana, también aficionada a la fotografía. Este mercado callejero ha sustituido a la famosa Vuciria en cantidad y calidad de los puestos de comida, también en vivacidad.
Yesterday I went to the Capo market with a palermitan friend, she is a photographer and enjoys doing street photography. This street market has replaced the old Vuciria in quantity and quality of the food stalls, also in liveliness.
La calle es un inmenso teatro en Palermo, donde vayas hay un escenario con gente que convierte su vida en una escena teatral. O encuentras el escenario perfecto en el patio de un palacio ruinoso.
Streets are a huge theater in Palermo. Wherever you go there is a stage with people ready to turn their lifes into a theatrical scene. Or you find the perfect empty stage in the courtyard of a ruined palace.
También fui al teatro de verdad, ese que pagas por ver una obra. El teatrito alternativo se llama «Teatro del canto alternativo Ditirammu» y la obra era una interesante adaptación de «Las ciudades invisibles» de Italo Calvino.

Palermo respira actividad comercial por todos sus poros. Pero las compras no se hacen en centros comerciales. Aunque hay un Zara, aquí sería difícil que triunfara un Corte Inglés. No, la principal actividad comercial de ropa se hace en los mercados callejeros, en el barrio de Capo, o en tiendas tradicionales.
Commerce is one of the main activities in Palermo but shopping doesn’t take place in malls or fancy shops. People go mainly to Capo district where a flourishing clothes market spreads on the streets.
Palermo, como toda ciudad mediterránea que se precie, vive en sus calles. Y la proximidad más meridional al sur hace que la vida en las calles sea todavía más activa que en las ciudades mediterráneas españolas. Estas fotos están tomadas en el barrio de Ballarò, en pleno centro histórico, que es el único sitio en que vale la pena vivir en Palermo. La ciudad nueva es algo anodino, como cualquier ciudad europea.
As any Mediterranean town, Palermo has a vibrant life in the streets. In the Mediterranean area the more to the south the more active is life in the streets, even more lively than in the Spanish towns. These pictures are taken in Ballarò area, in the core of the historical centre which is the only place worth of living in Palermo. The new town is sort of anodyne, as any European town.
