Hoy ha tenido lugar la segunda huelga general contra los recortes sociales y el desmantelamiento de los sistemas de protección social que está llevando a cabo el gobierno de Mariano Rajoy. Las protestas se están convirtiendo en la única vía real de expresar el malestar y la ira, a medida que la gente deja de confiar en sindicatos y partidos políticos. Se trata de una situación potencial muy peligrosa a la que está contribuyendo el gobierno desde el rodillo de su mayoría absoluta.

Today there has been in Spain the second general strike against cuts and job losses. The pictures were taken at the end of a protest march in Madrid. The banner below says «Corrupts, racketeer». Protests are becoming the only real way to express the unrest as people don’t trust anymore trade unions and political parties. It’s a potential and very dangerous situation fueled by the Government.

No es lo que parece. La foto la tomé paseando por Chueca, en una tienda de moda un dependiente trataba de vestir a una maniquí y no pude resistir la tentación de hacer un disparo desde la puerta de la tienda. La foto está hecha con una pequeña cámara Contax T2, película Tri-X.

It’s not what it looks like …. I took the photo strolling through Chueca. A shop assistant was trying to dress a dummy with great effort, and I couldn’t resist to make a shot from the door of the shop. Camera was a small Contax T2, with Tri-X film.

Fotografiar al fotógrafo, un motivo recurrente en la calle. La primera foto está tomada hace poco en un local de copas al lado de casa, y al final su Graciosa Majestad resultó ser la protagonista de la escena. La segunda foto, en cambio está tomada hace varios años, en Madrid, y no me preguntéis que hacía la extraña pareja porque nunca me enteré. La última foto, cómo no, es la socorrida Gran Vía.

Shooting the photographer, a recurrent subject in the street photo. The first photo was taken recently in a pub near my home, and at the end the leading character in the scene turned out to be Her Majesty the Queen. Second photo was taken years ago, in Madrid, and don’t ask me what the couple was doing because I never knew. Last photo, as always, is the handy Gran Vía in Madrid.

Snow White

Todavía no he visto la película «Blancanieves», pero ese rincón del cine Ideal estaba muy fotogénico en la oscuridad de la noche. Enfrente, el Teatro Fígaro. Tras el fallido experimento con un visor electrónico vuelvo a lo de siempre, una buena reflex o la Leica, es lo que me da seguridad a la hora de disparar.

I haven’t seen the film «Snow White», but that corner of the movies theatre was very photogenic in the darkness. Opposite, Figaro Theatre. After the failed experiment with a Fuji electronic viewfinder I come back to classics -a good reflex or the Leica. I feel safe with both of them when shooting.

Sigo probando la Fujifilm X100, que funciona muy bien en situaciones de noche con el visor óptico y da un resultado más que bueno en cuanto a calidad. También es muy cómoda de manejar con una sola mano. Pero me temo que la nueva Fujifilm E-X1 sea imposible de utilizar para fotografía de calle por muy bueno que sea su visor electrónico. En este tipo de fotografía la rapidez de disparo es fundamental.

I am still testing the Fujifilm X100, which works very well by night with the optical viewfinder and gives excelent results in terms of quality. It is also very easy to handle with only one hand. But I am afraid that the new Fuji E-X1 will be difficult to use for street photo even if its electronic viewfinder has improved. In this kind of photography speed of shooting is vital.

Esta última foto fue tirada a 2500 ISO, velocidad 0,4 segundos y diafragma 2,8. Las anteriores, a 1600 ISO.
