No os creáis que en Italia los chicos van por la calle vestidos de Armani o Dolce&Gabana. Más bien os encontráis algo así.
Don’t think that in the Italian streets men stroll by wearing Armani or Dolce&Gabana. Probability is that you find something like this:
La parte vieja de Siracusa es una pequeña península llamada Ortigia, con mucho encanto, sobre todo por la noche cuando los turistas se han ido y por las callejuelas poco iluminadas sólo transitan los nativos. También hay restos de un teatro griego y de otro romano, pero nada que ver al lado de Taormina.
The old part of Syracuse is a small peninsula called Ortigia, full of charm and spell, specially by night when tourists have gone out and you only see locals through the narrow and scarcely lit streets and alleys. There are also the remains of two theaters, a Greek one and a Roman one, but they pale when compared to Taormina.
Las playas en invierno tienen un toque de melancolía que el blanco y negro acentúa aún más, pero no me pude resistir a la tentación de hacer algunos disparos. La verdad es que estaba en un apartamento de un lugar llamado Giardini Naxos, sin absolutamente nada que hacer una vez visto el gran teatro griego. Y bueno, esto es lo que había.
Beaches in winter have a melancholic touch which the black and white enhances still more, but I couldn’t resist to shoot some pictures. Truth is that I was in an apartment in a place called Giardini Naxos and once I had seen the Greek theater I had absolutely nothing to do.
Estoy recién llegada a un apartamento en Taormina que no tiene conexión a Internet, y subo estas últimas fotos de Marsala gracias a la generosidad y simpatía italiana.
Resumiendo: el apartamento está en una zona vacacional en el mar, enfrente de un Hotel Hilton. Después de mucho maldecir me acerco al hotel y pregunto por una conexión wifi: cuesta 26,50 € las 24 horas! Desolada voy al bar de enfrente a tomar un café, les cuento mis cuitas, las tarifas Hilton y el dueño del bar no sólo se indigna por los precios sino que se ofrece a traerme de su casa su llave portátil de conexión. Me veo abonada al bar hasta que me vaya!
Así que aquí estoy, después de haberme zampado una suculenta cena casera regada con un buen vino. Espero no obnubilarme y subir bien las fotitos!
I just arrived to an apartment in Taormina without Internet connection, and I am now downloading these last photos from Marsala thanks to the Italian generousity and sympathy.
The apartment is located in a vacational area in front of a Hilton Hotel. I go there and ask for the Internet connection: it costs €26.50 the 24 hours! Desperate I go to a bar in front of the hotel, have a coffee and tell them the Hilton rates for Internet, and the owner not only shows his anger for the high rates but he offers to bring me from his house his personal USB key.
So here I am after having had a delicious fish diner with a good wine!
El barrio de Trastevere es el corazón popular de Roma. Viejo como la misma ciudad de Roma, sigue albergando los artesanos que le dieron esa impronta popular en la Edad Media. Calles estrechas, fachadas de casas antiquísimas con ese característico color arancione, empedrado de adoquín, lleno de tiendecitas, bares y tabernas, el alma de Trastevere late con fuerza. La gente nunca tiene prisa, saben vivir. Yo pasé casi cuatro años de mi vida joven allí, en piazza San Cosimato, ahora recorro las mismas calles que poco han cambiado.
The district of Trastevere is the popular heart of Rome. Old as the town, it still houses the craftsmen that gave the neighbourhood that popular character in the Medieval period. Narrow streets, very old buindings painted of that «arancione» colour, cobbled paving, full of small shops, bars and taverns, the soul of Trastevere beats strongly. People are never in a rush, they now the rules of good living. I spent almost four years of my youth there, in piazza San Cosimato, and now I stroll through the same streets that haven’t changed at all.
