Hace mucho que no subo ni media foto, y no es por mi ya habitual pereza fotográfica. He sufrido un catarrazo monumental seguido de un virus estomacal que me ha tenido encerrada en casa. Así que recupero esta foto de principios de diciembre, tomada con mi amado Canon 28mm f/1,8 en la esquina de Gran Vía con Fuencarral. Es de notar el plácido rostro de la chica en primer plano al darse cuenta que la estaba fotografiando, por una vez no me protestaron. Ultimamente observo que en Madrid la gente se ha vuelto muy protestona al ser fotografiada.

It’s a long time that I don’t post any pic, and not because my usual laziness. I’ve suffered a strong cold followed by a stomach virus, so I’ve been enclosed at home. This pic was shot at the beginning of December with my beloved Canon 28mm f/1.8, in the corner between Gran Vía and calle Fuencarral. To be noted and appreciated the smiling face of the girl in the forefront when she realized I was shooting her. Lately I’ve noticed that people in Madrid protest a lot when being photographed.

Night walk

La parte vieja de Madrid, lo que llaman el Madrid de los Austrias, hay que pasearla de noche, cuando las sombras añaden misterio a las cosas más sencillas, cuando las calles están calmas y la gente no se apresura.

The old part of Madrid, what they call «Austrian quarter» in honour of the ancient dynasty of kings, has to be visited by night. Then shadows add mystery to the simplest things, streets are quiet and people don’t hustle.

Este mendigo pide algo original, nada menos que un chalet en Marbella y un Ferrari. Buen sentido del humor para estos tiempos sombríos.

Sí, ya sé lo que dicen los maestros de la fotografía, que con una mala cámara se pueden hacer buenas fotos. Pero si tienes una buena lente en una buena cámara, pues mejor que mejor. En el caso de estas dos fotos, las hice anoche con un objetivo de una calidad extraordinaria, el Canon 28mm f/1,8, sobre una 5D.

I know what the great photographers say, that you can get a good picture with a bad gear. But … if you get a good lens on a good camera, well, so much the better. I shot the photos below yesterday night with a fantastic lens, the Canon 28mm f/1.8 on a 5D.
