Sometimes you go strolling the Gran Via and you find characters like these ones. A whole story. It was yesterday and weather was very cold.
La parte vieja de Madrid, lo que llaman el Madrid de los Austrias, hay que pasearla de noche, cuando las sombras añaden misterio a las cosas más sencillas, cuando las calles están calmas y la gente no se apresura.
The old part of Madrid, what they call «Austrian quarter» in honour of the ancient dynasty of kings, has to be visited by night. Then shadows add mystery to the simplest things, streets are quiet and people don’t hustle.
Sí, ya sé lo que dicen los maestros de la fotografía, que con una mala cámara se pueden hacer buenas fotos. Pero si tienes una buena lente en una buena cámara, pues mejor que mejor. Hoy ha tenido lugar la segunda huelga general contra los recortes sociales y el desmantelamiento de los sistemas de protección social que está llevando a cabo el gobierno de Mariano Rajoy. Las protestas se están convirtiendo en la única vía real de expresar el malestar y la ira, a medida que la gente deja de confiar en sindicatos y partidos políticos. Se trata de una situación potencial muy peligrosa a la que está contribuyendo el gobierno desde el rodillo de su mayoría absoluta.
Today there has been in Spain the second general strike against cuts and job losses. The pictures were taken at the end of a protest march in Madrid. The banner below says «Corrupts, racketeer». Protests are becoming the only real way to express the unrest as people don’t trust anymore trade unions and political parties. It’s a potential and very dangerous situation fueled by the Government.
